First Listen: Ring Ring Rouge
New out of Burnley, Lancashire are Ring Ring Rouge, an alternative/indie band signed to Jack to Phono Records. Described as “a band with an obvious and unique talent” by WohoMusic, the four piece have impressed audiences across the North West and West Yorkshire with their intensely atmospheric sound and instrument swapping live performances.
Formed in the late summer of 2010, Ring Ring Rouge set about crafting a distinct and intimate sound inspired by bands like The National, Radiohead, Interpol and Modest Mouse and swiftly recorded an enthusiastically well received debut EP.
See for yourself with the video to their forthcoming single release 'Today', out on October 15 via Jack to Phono Records.

First Listen: Mt. Wolf
If they managed to elude your radar when formerly known as Solar State, there is less chance of London four-piece 'dreamfolk' outfit Mt. Wolf doing so this time. Combining elements of ethereal guitar soundscapes, heart warming female vocals and early dubstep and electronica production styles they have slowly started to gather attention.
After a summer of touring festivals around the world and supporting everyone from James Blake and Little Dragon at 'Symbiosis Gathering' in the Nevada desert to running their successful London night 'Wolf Club', Mt. Wolf (Kate Sproule, vocals, violin; Steve McMinn, Sebastian Fox, guitars; Alex Mitchell, drums) now releasing their debut EP on limited edition 12" vinyl and digital download on Two Sisters Records on October 29.
Drawing on influences the likes of M83 amongst others with Sproule's vocals being alikened to Bjork - they combine electronica-infused folk (that gels both acoustic and electric guitars along with violin, with the noted absence of bass guitar) with a dash of the ethereal that echoes Wild Beasts and Sigur Ros.
Listen to the forthcoming EP here:
Mt. Wolf will be launching the EP at Corsica Studios in London on October 30.

CHVRCHES UNVEIL INSTANT SOUNDCLOUD SENSATION
Within 24 hours of being put up on Soundcloud this Monday (17th), 'The Mother We Share', the debut single release (November 5 via National Anthem label, as digital download and 10" vinyl) from the Glaswegian Chvrches, had shored up nearly 15,000 plays. No mean feat for a band hitherto that few had probably come across.
Their first outing earlier thus year with 'Lies' was a foretaste of what this fresh electro pop combo (comprising The Twilight Sad's Martin Doherty, vocalist Lauren Mayberry, formerly of Blue Sky Archives, and Iain Cook, ex- Aerogramme) were likely to be unleashing - and so far they haven't disappointed.
Check out below the song everyone - and their mother - seems to be listening to this week, and seemingly set to shoot like a rocket on its Bonfire Night drop.

One To Watch :: A Sky Jet Black
The trio from Austin, Texas, came together in early 2010 and made their inaugural live debut at a SXSW house party a few months later. Following recent dates in the UK, they release 'Out To Sea' on October 1, the first single from their debut 'Japanese Moon' album (October 8), produced by Mike McCarthy (And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of The Dead).
The post punk, pop noir sound - influenced by the Eighties Berlin era/New Wave - of HI and Karasene (both on vox/keys) together with Tim-O (vox/bass) swells over a cover of The Stone Roses' 'I Wanna Be Adored' amidst a glitchy electronic beat ensemble of tracks that manage to bring both shades of light and dark to their sonic synth-effected palette.
