Essex indie rock quintet The Shermans are streaming their latest single 'Intentions', taken from their forthcoming EP 'Luna'. The track is also available for free download.
After releasing their debut EP 'Marina' in November last year to much acclaim, they return with perhaps a more refined indie sound than was previously heard, with the quality in recording and musicianship definitely having been stepped up a notch with cleaner vocals from frontman Callum Quirk. Their guitar use - via Hamish Monk on lead guitar, and Sean Heaney on rhythm guitar - is as ctachy as ever, with irresistible melody lines woven throughout, and a rocking beat acting as a solid backbone for the song. It can't be left unsaid - the bass here is good due to Jake Piper's effects, but the drums of Alex Pattle have really improved in quality.
None of this is to say they were lacking before, but the change in studio may of just been what was needed.
The Shermans play the Queen of Hoxton on April 20 for Mat Horne's 'Sessions'. Make you sure you don't miss out on the latest band from the newest B-town - Brentwood that is!
