The first track to come from the forthcoming album of 21-year-old Brentwood boy Joseph Coward, 'Sarah, Plain & Tall' is a different proposition to some of his earlier work.
Coward emerged in 2010 with his self-released EP 'Animal Sweethearts', his music characterised by his heartfelt baritone voice, multi-layered guitars and high-octane electronic based rhythms. After releasing two singles with Tim Burgess's O Genesis label, 'Children's Bones' b/w 'Fat & Ugly' came out through Blank Editions in February.
‘Sarah, Plain & Tall’, like with all of Coward's lyrics, contains that dark tinged, somewhat cynical edge, coated over with an intense and challenging vocal that manages to be both fragile yet seeringly caustic.
