Sound:Check Charity Concert - Alice Russell + Others Sing For ChildHope
Live at St. John’s (Music for ChildHope), curated by Sound:Check, is a charitable concert with an intimate, stripped back twist from a selection of noteworthy UK artists which takes place on Friday July 26 7.30pm - 11.30pm.
Located in St. John’s Church in Hackney Central, each artist will be given a 20-minute almost completely un-amplified, acoustic set. St. John’s holds 1,200 seated audience members and the artists will be able to take advantage of the church’s beautiful acoustics. With nothing but a church organ, a baby grand piano, a string section, and an all female choir to accompany them, each performer will perform in a style they are unaccustomed to, giving a rare insight into their talent and versatility.
This month’s event includes performances by soul singer songwriter, Alice Russell, who is currently riding high following the recent successful release of her fifth album ‘To Dust’; and Gideon Conn, previously playlisted on XFM and a guest at BBC Radio 1’s Maida Vale Studio for a session with Huw Stephens, brings his blend of folk and hip-hop as well as his unique performance style to St. John’s. His set will feature Sound:Check’s very own conductor and singer Stac.
Tickets are priced at £15 in advance or £20 on the door.
