Introducing :: Knocking Ghost
Knocking Ghost is an, as yet, little known electronic trio hailing from West London. Although formed just over a year ago and releasing their debut EP ‘Distractions' as well as subsequently headlined London’s Hoxton Bar and Grill and appeared live at the Isle of Man Festival amongst other live performances, they have not quite reached the recognisable heights as some of their contemporaries.
That could be about to change for the four-piece, comprised of Rob Taylor (vox, synths, guitars), Neil Quinlan (synths, guitars) and Andy Hobson (drums, percussion). Knocking Ghost are set to release their new single ‘Soul Aspiration’ on December 2.
Listen to the track below.
‘Soul Aspiration’ is a brooding and sleekly styled piece of intelligent synth-pop, with hazy multi-layered synths, accompanied by arresting electronic sounds and a distinctive vocal - all underpinned by dark deep beats.
Knocking Ghost started out as a remix collective, putting their spin on bands such as Erasure and Bastille. They soon discovered they shared similar electronic music tastes and decided to write their own music, described by the band as a mix of “contemporary dance floor music with part late 70's early 80's pop, and many different pieces we picked up in-between; but always something with a big brooding soul and a silver lining.”
