October 11 2013 - Hot Top Ten
TELEGRAM - FOLLOW
We first introduced Telegram back in May and were privy to their small and exclusive second-only gig, where even then they looked and sounded seasoned professionals. This, their debut, can only be the start of big things to come.
BABYPINK - PETRICHOR
If there is a 'Brum sound', this band - formerly Sugar - have it. Swirling guitar lines, great bass riffs, catchy melodies, an enigmatic frontman - and seemingly an ability to pull the lot together. One to watch out for in 2014.
GIVE BLOOD - PEARLS
Already featured on Monday here on LIB, this is a simply sublime piece of electronica that ticks all the right boxes and reaches all the right aural pathways to the heart.
TEETH OF THE SEA - RESPONDER
Longest track at 10.43 on the just released 'Master' long player. Teeth of the Sea have slowly and steadily built up their live reputation thuis year with their proggy style.
PAUL ORWELL - LITTLE REASON
One man re-living the 60s.
H A R T E B E E S T. - DEATH
London duo marking their debut with this electronic synth-rich track. A grower and through headphones the production sounds even more slick and precise.
CURELIGHT WOUNDS - CLEAREST VIEW
Title track from the Brooklyn psych shoegazers' just released EP.
DROWNERS - LUV, HOLD ME DOWN
Alexa Chung is a big fan of this effervescent post punk pop from New York quartet. Debut album set for January 2014 release.
VILLIERS - SHADOWS
Following rapidly on the tails of the excellent 'Heavy Heart', the Lancashire three-piece come up with another banger of a tune, with a stirring first opening minute of drums and guitar.
BRETON - GOT WELL SOON
About to head off on UK tour with Local Natives and Cloud Control, the cutting edge multimedia artist collective release the first track from their forthcoming album.
