October 25 2013 - Hot Top Ten
SEEDS & BONES - LAY IT DOWN
Dreamy lo-fi from trio which includes sisters Fiona and Rachel Allison. For fans of London Grammar, Fiona's vocal soaring at 2.51 in brings a lump to the throat. Blissful.
THE BRIGHT ONES - YOUR WORDS DON'T BOTHER ME BUT THE KILLING HURTS
Killer new track following up their earlier debut 'Does She Make Noise?' a few months ago. This, however, is a completely different kettle of fish from Brighton’s “fuckpop” outfit. Its punk-driven wailing guitars and incessant pace make this Track Of The Week.
HONEYBLOOD - KISSING ON YOU
B-side to the Glasgow duo's 'Bud', their debut single out this week. Bittersweet garage pop.
GLACIALS - SWEET TOOTH PINK WRIST
Taken from 'We Are Serious and We Mean It', the debut EP from the London-based post-rock five-piece.
ROSIE LOWE - ME & YOUR GHOST
Glitchy, synth melancholy from this emerging South London soul siren. Taken from her Kwes/Dave Okumu (The Invisible) 'Right Thing' EP collaboration, released December 2.
HALF LOON - MAN OF FEW BLOODY WORDS
Daniel Pickard's new venture. This is the rockier B side to the dreamy, psych 'Swearword'.
FRIDAY CLUB - TAME ME
Another offering from the Birmingham four-piece, who keep turning out reliably good tracks. This has to rate as one of their best so far, with one of vocalist Josh Smithyman's most full-on, sexy drawls to date.
ELEPHANT - SNOWDAY
Following 'Shapeshifter' and 'Skyscraper', the duo's love affair with the 'S' title continues with this sweeping soundscape.
DARLIA - QUEEN OF HEARTS
Lead single from 'Knock Knock' debut EP from the Blackpool trio. A big hitter from the band hailed as the most exciting guitar band around. Watch out for their dominance in 2014, if this first offering us anything to go by.
MOURNING BIRDS - OH YEH!
Putting the rock n roll in an under two minute debut single from the Medway trio.
