Slaves Ready For Vuvuvultures Tour
2013 seems to have been a year for duos, from Drenge to Royal Blood, and now Slaves are all taking on the big boys and playing it - loud. And they don't come a lot more raucous than this Kentish pair, fronted by Isaac Holman (22) on drums and vocals and Laurie Vincent (20) on guitar. And if you thought you'd seen it all, Slaves err to the side of difference with Isaac standing up in front of his drums - there’s no kick drum, just snare, two cymbals and floor tom; he replaces the thud of the kick by battering on the floor tom, propelling the sound forward with tribal rhythms and a seething vocal attack. Beside him Laurie peels off wave-upon-wave of brittle post-punk guitar noise.
Having already played storming shows and tours with Drenge, Andrew WK and The Skints as well as an incredible set at Reading and Leeds festival in August, they now emabrk on a UK support tour with Vuvuvultures across the remainder of November.
Listen to 'Beauty Quest; (taken from their 2012 mini album ‘Sugar Coated Bitter Truth’) below. Their next single, the garage rock inspired ‘Where’s Your Car Debbie?’ is set for a January release.
