Matthew And The Atlas Unveil New Single Video
Matthew and the Atlas have announced details of their new single, ‘Pale Sun Rose’. Set for release on February 24 via Communion Records, 'Pale Sun Rose' is the first single to be taken from their anticipated forthcoming debut album due in April. The official video for ‘Pale Sun Rose’, which features Charlie Cox (Boardwalk Empire, Downton Abbey) as a loner fisherman who’s day to day routine takes a dark turn when he comes across his doppelgänger, can be watched below.
After releasing two EPs of dreamy, textured Americana on Communion Records (the label's first ever releases back in 2011) and a subsequent year of touring in Europe and the US, Matthew and the Atlas (aka Matthew Hegarty) retreated home to mull over the new songs developing in his head. In the summer of 2013, Hegarty went into the studio to record these new songs and the result is a debut album with a dramatic soundscape.
Building on the rousing choruses and warm melodies of earlier releases, these new tracks bring in more electronic layers and, lyrically, offer a darker and more expansive take on his previous works' collision of the pastoral and the personal - all filtered through Hegarty’s extraordinary low, rumbling vocal.
Ahead of this, UK fans will get the chance to hear the new material performed live for the first time when Matthew and the Atlas head out on an intimate tour at the end of January, culminating in a sold out show at The Lexington in London on February 3. Full listings below.
