The two somewhat enigmatic sisters Annie and Georgie, known more familiarly as Hockeysmith, made a low-key, buy impressive, entrance last year with their debut single 'Let's Bang'. Now the Falmouth-based pair return with the first track taken from their debut EP to be released thru Double Denim in May.
'But Blood' perfectly utilises the girls' voices against a throbbing bassline, guitar feedback and silky synth electronica, to capture something that is both ethereal, yet compelling.
The video to the song, directed by designer and photographer Davy Evans (noted for his work on The xx’s 'Chained' and 'Angels' videos), uses footage shot through water to capture reflections and mirrors that create the rippling effect.
The girls play London's Waiting Room on March 6. We suggest you book now as Hockeysmith look set to be one of the buzz artists of the year.
