One To Watch :: The Tommy Drums

The Tommy Drums are a Cheltenham four-piece who started out in late 2012 after forming in their school music class. Yes, indeed, these young chaps were just a tender fifteen and sixteen at the time. "Our music teacher put us together to play a song and the chemistry was all there, so we thought it would be a shame to leave it!" says Sam Jones, the cheeky little frontman who could be in danger of giving Harry Styles a run for his money.

Now all aged around 17, they have just put together four tracks to form their debut EP. One of which, the catchy 'Savages', they have also provided a video to. "'Savages' is about how the media portray teenagers to be 'savages' and is influenced by what we get up to on the standard weekend - which is shown in the video! Just larking about with nothing better to do," says Sam.

They have already started to get their feet wet playing live, playing local festivals and gigs. "We've had a few gigs round our local area; we sold out both times we played at the 2 Pigs. We've also played at The Fleece in Bristol in an attempt to widen our audience. Currently we're trying to book gigs for half-term to get around other places."

Judging by the screaming girls on the live footage in the 'Savages' video, promoters might want to check out The Tommy Drums further. There's an element of cuteness, mixed in with some laddish brashness which could just see them becoming the alternative One Direction - certainly if the teen girl fervour is anything to go by anyway.
