Introducing :: Dub Thompson
Los Angeles duo Dub Thompson (guitarist Matt Pulos and drummer Evan Laffer) are echoing the rise seen in the UK of the two-piece outfits (Drenge, Royal Blood, Slaves), and recently signed to the Dead Oceans label, they release debut album '9 Songs' on June 10.
The two 19-year-olds cite a range of musical influences travel from Pere Ubu, to Kraut pioneers Can and Kraftwerk, and for this first eight song offering - produced by Foxygen’s Jonathan Rado - they check blasts of hook-filled noise rock ('Hayward!'), a rocksteady marionette stomp ('No Time'), hypnotic bouts of doomy poetics ('Epicondyles'), sexy groove rock ('Dograces').
Dub Thompson embark on a tour at the end of next month across the US with Ought.
