Track Of The Day :: Arêtes - Climbing Up And Chucking Rocks
Given the title of this lead track from London-based Arêtes debut album, one might expect it to be a much louder and altogether thrashier affair instead of the lush electronic lo-fi dreampop work it transpires to be.
'Climbing Up And Chucking Rocks', to be found on the 'Mission Creep' full length which was released on Saturday, is aptly summed up in the band's own description of their music as "dark and noisy dream-pop. Think PJ Harvey, TV on the Radio and Four Tet."
Arêtes was formed in 2011 by Brian Semple from Belfast whose background was in folk and punk bands, and lo-fi electronica and hip-hop Londoner James Grisbrook, and 'Mission Creep' was recorded in their Brixton studio over the winter period.
Arêtes are: Brian Semple (bass, vocals); James Grisbrook (keyboard); Daryl Sweet (guitar, mandolin, banjo); Ryan Harkness (guitar); Ray Moody (drums)
