Coves Share Video For 'Wake Up'
Before heading to Glastonbury thus weekend, Coves have unveiled the visuals for ‘Wake Up’, the closing track of their debut 'Soft Friday' album.
“I remember recording ‘Wake Up’ and having the skeleton of a song,” recalls John Ridgard, one half of the psych-pop duo. “Beck came round but nothing was working. We got really frustrated and bought a couple of bottles of wine. We were in this raucous state and it just came out.”
“It’s about my ex,” Beck Wood explains of the song’s meaning. “It was me proving that ‘I am who I am and you’re just nothing to me anymore’. It was meant to be a strong song, especially for me, personally, to say ‘Look at me now’.
Touring last year with Echo and the Bunnymen, Dutch Uncles and Eugene McGuinness, they kicked off 2014 on the road with Band of Skulls and are supporting the release of ‘Soft Friday’ with a summer packed full of festival performances before heading to the US to join The Raveonettes on tour
