Track Of The Day :: LUVV - Free

We introduced LUVV here back in February after first hearing them and liking the cut of their gib. They weren't giving much away about themselves, but the tracks they had put out did the talking for them; largely saying that the Cardiff crew were one to keep an eye and ear on.

Now they are back with 'Free'. Self-released by the band this week, it features on their second cassette which is out now (and available via clicking here ). And we luvv, luvv, luvv it.

Could be just us who thinks it, but the opening five seconds we could easily have thought a riff from Dave Brubeck's 'Take Five' jazz classic, before the track then rolls into a gorgeous reverb-drenched guitar section that could well be headed into psych territory, but no, Matt's insistent and distinct punk nuanced vocal snarl comes in, drum rolls in its wake, and - wham! - we land slap-bang in a brutal four-minute aggressively exciting sonic assault.

This is really a bloody great track.
