Although the style of music paraded by High Wycombe duo The Purple Lights may not be necessarily to everyone's taste, there is a certain earworm catchiness that is hard to resist on this latest track from them, 'Dreamer'.
Rob Fincham, on guitar and of the mightily husky vocals, and Akeba Fridye on drums and percussion, present a hybrid of folk-country that dabbles a little into grunge-reggae via acoustic guitar melodies and plenty of rhythmic grooves. It's like listening to the Levellers put through a short spin with the Mumfords and Bob Marley. 'Dreamer' is a cert to get you up and dancing, probably waving your dreads and banging a tambourine st the same time.
The Purple Lights are currently working on a new single for October release.
