Track Of The Day :: Kid Trench - I'll Be Waiting

The first thing that came to mind on hearing the opening notes of Kid Trench's falsetto vocal on  'I'll Be Waiting' was "blimey - that's high!" Second, a little further on, "blimey - this is good!"

The latter probably being a saving sentiment for Mr. Trench, since we have temporarily lifted our ban on the increasing number of new artists who seem to be opting, for some unknown reason, to take on a cloak of anonymity, to include 'I’ll Be Waiting’ here. It is a track that is really owned by the vocal without doubt. For an adult, this pitch is one more accustomed to say, the likes of a prepubescent Aled Jones (think 'Walking In The Air'), and it is simply quite bewitchingly beautiful. Throw in some glitchy beats and some smooth electronica which digs in at the halfway mark, and you have a track that with the right push, could become something big.

As for the man behind the voice, we know little - and he ain't telling at this point either. Apparently, Kid Trench hails from Northern Ireland, just outside of Belfast, has so far debuted just two tracks  - ‘Blue Skies' last month, and 'I’ll Be Waiting' more recently.  He studiously avoids all questioning to elicit more information, suffice to say that he is currently finishing his debut EP, which hopefully should materialise before the end of the year.
