Watch :: Lemonade's Surreal Beach Bitch 'Durutti Shores'
With their third album 'Minus Tide' out this week, the New York three-piece Lemonade have put out a video for track 'Durutti Shores'.
Shot on Italian canals in Venice, there is a slightly other- worldly component to the visuals, which feature ice cream ad-like gondolas, beach shots of people in various states of undress and beach attire, and a number of male hand gestures going on.
Lemonade's Callan Clendenin explains it thus:
"While some of the gestures and meanings are as much of a mystery to us as they are to the viewer, director Oscar Boyson did explain to us that Medusa, sometimes representing a symbol of man's sensual nature, has become, through sculpture and opera, a symbol of Venice. Medusa, a serpentine Gorgon birthed of marine deities, can here be interpreted as a vengeful keeper of the city, and Lemonade, in this story, is no Perseus."
'Minus Tide' is out now on Cascine.
