Oceaán Announces New EP
Following the release of new track 'Grip', Manchester-via-Brussels producer Oceaán has announced a brand new EP.
'The Grip' is set for release on November 17 via Chess Club Records. To coincide with the announcement, a new video for 'Grip', directed by Harvey Pearson (Aquilo, Låplsley, Rhye), is streaming online now.
Watch below.
The effortlessly unique brand of electronic pop on Oceaán's self-titled debut EP saw its protagonist, Oliver Cean, thrust into the spotlight with acclaim coming from the likes of BBC Radio 1's Annie Mac, Huw Stephens and Zane Lowe. On 'The Grip', Cean's work continues to expand on its electronic foundations with awe-inspriring new intricacies and explorative influences.
Says Cean: "I wanted to explore the duality between lyrical context and conceptual production. Taking influences from many facets of electronic music, my main aim was to investigate the effectiveness of songwriting within the electronic plane - whether it be marrying a lyrical concept with similar tonal aspects (inherently present within the production), and more importantly, creating and displaying disparity between them."
Live dates:
October
18. Sound of Copenhagen @ DR Koncerthuset, Copenhagen, Denmark
November
01. Bar, Vega, Copenhagen, Denmark
11. Les InRocks Festival, Casino de Paris, Paris, France [w / Lykke Li + Woman's Hour]
