The lush synth-pop electronics of new single 'Alena' already picking up 73,000 Soundcloud plays in just 3 days, signifies that New Zealand trio Yumi Zouma, while still relatively new, are a name fast being picked up on. And with their shortly to support Lorde on tour in their mutual home territory, as well as a UK visit in the offing, it looks like they will head into 2015 as a name on the 'ones to watch' lists.
Following debut track 'The Brae', and a four-track EP released in February, the friends - now New York and Paris based - toured in the US and produced an emotive cover of Air France’s 'It Feels Good To Be Around You'.
New single 'Alena' continues in the same effortless vein, with programmed drums and guitars and a piano hooks giving a hazy backing to Kim Pflaum's delicately rich vocal.
Yumi Zouma play one UK date in London, at Birthdays on November 10, in between playing Iceland Airwaves and further US dates.
