Striking out on a solo venture, Day Wave, aka Jackson Phillips, is the one-man recording project of the 25-year-old Oakland-based artist.
Still in its infancy - he only embarked on recording as Day Wave this autumn - he has just unveiled the first track from his debut EP, set for release early next year. 'Nothing At All' is a dreamy-lo-fi instrumentation that is decorated with an upbeat arrangement and gossamer fine falsetto.
Jackson, a Berklee College of Music graduate, was hitherto better known as one half of synthpop duo Carousel, formed in 2011 with Kevin Friedman, whose songs such as 'Let’s Go Home' and 'Where Have You Gone' were sparkling 80s style electropop.
