EP Review :: Sundara Karma - EP I
Sundara Karma
EP I
February 23 2015 (Believe Recordings /203 Recordings)
8.5/10
Words: Linn Branson
We've already gushed feverishly here about the merits of this Reading bunch, from their entering 2015 with the stirringly anthemic and uplifting 'Loveblood', to 'The Night' with its moreish guitar riffs, pop curves and shimmery synths, and 'Waves', filled with resplendent fuzzy hooks, and the even more effulgent vocals of Oscar Lulu. With the last of the EP's tracks, 'Freshbloom' - the song with which they made their debut back in '13, back smelling refreshed but just as intoxicating, laced with a bright and breezy bassline and a surf rock percussion edge - completing the quartet, they round off this entrè package very nicely indeed.
Sundara Karma seem to have it all on their side, from exuberant youth, and big fuck-off choruses; to hip indie style, and a live performance that lives up to the hype. Unless they split or fall victim to incredibly bad luck, we can't see them heading anywhere in the next year but up to headlining major venues and placing themselves firmly in the top rank.
