Track Of The Day :: Early Ghost - Devil's Got Me Now
There are two things that make Early Ghost's 'Devil's Got Me Now' a hot one from the off: the opening, the swirling, psych-like sprawl of guitars, and the oh-so-blissed-out vocals of Mike O'Malley that just set a tingle running up the spine.
The track is is the Brighton/London six-piece's next single, released on March 23 via digital download and vinyl, and the follow-up to last year’s 'Everything Goes With It'. Pairing intoxicating layered vocals with reverb and a gauzy keyboard and electric guitars intermixture - not to mention sticking a sax solo in the middle - along with sinuous drum beats, makes for one deftly executed psych-folk treat.
Speaking about the track, O'Malley said: "When we started writing this song, I think half of us secretly wanted it to be a Stones 'Let It Bleed' outtake and the other half wanted it to be a Led Zeppelin III outtake. I like to think we met somewhere in the middle. Lyrically the song details unshakeable issues with the idea of sleeping, bouts of paranoia and problems with the personal association that sleep equals death. This song is facing up to that a bit".
