Introducing :: HART

HART is the solo project of London-based singer/songwriter Daniel Pattison. About to release his debut EP - 'Songs Of Late Summer' - in April, he has prefaced this with a second track from the work, 'Song Of Summer', which he put out last week.

Featuring string arrangements from Nico Muhly (Jonsi, Bjork, Grizzly Bear), 'Song Of Summer' is a wide soundscape of a track that soars over just shy of four minutes, taking in Daniel's lustrous vocals over both organic and electronic instrumentation. It's one of those uplifting sounds that swells evocatively.

Although this is Dan's debut under the HART name, he did previously release two acoustic folk-influenced EPs under his own name in 2010 and 2013, as well as playing with Lucy Rose, Alessi's Ark, and Alasdair Roberts. But as he explains, he "never really felt satisfied with the sound. I took a year long break from making music to re-evaluate what I was doing. The new EP is a result of that experimentation; using programming, drum machines and electric guitars to create something more expansive and expressive."

Previous single 'Anchor', a 'raw and personal song', was the first to show HART's new, more experimental sound, set to electronic beats, and highlighted his extraordinary falsetto vocal range, the kind that makes the heart ache.
