Oxford alt-indie folk outfit Stornoway launched their upcoming third album, 'Bonxie' - out on April 13 - at an intimate invitation-only showcase gig at the Hospital Club in London last night (March 4).
The four-piece performed nine songs from the 12-track album - which was funded through a PledgeMusic campaign, which saw the band smash 222% of their target funding within four days - with the set including fabulous unplugged versions of new single, the upbeat 'Get Low' and the lilting sea shanty 'Josephine'.
The songs were interspersed with stories from frontman Brian Briggs about the making of the album, and of the birdsong that is sprinkled throughout - a fact that we learn producer Gil Norton wasn't so impressed with!
Strong melodies and the trademark Stornoway harmonies feature heavily on the new material, and it's clear from this showing that the new album should prove popular with old and new fans alike.
'Bonxie' follows their acclaimed debut album 'Beachcomber's Windowsill' of 2010, and 'Tales From Terra Firma' released in 2013.
