At one second off 11 minutes, Irish post-punk foursome Girls Names have undoubtedly set themselves up for producing one of the lengthiest tracks of the year with the fairly major soundscapes of new single 'Zero Triptych'.
The post-punk feel of 'The New Life' -their last EP of 2013 EP - is still here, but more as an undercurrent over which flows psych-rock guitars, propulsive rhythm and skittish synths. The mesmeric “symphony in three parts” is menacing and atmospheric, and while the track may be a long one, its multitudinous parts more than fill the time.
'Zero Triptych' is out on May 11 via Tough Love.
