Originally put out a few years ago on an EP by Mexican Slang's Annabelle Lee (when MS was still her solo project), 'Fever' had now undergone a resurrection, been re-recorded and is now the upcoming single from the Toronto trio.
'Fever' follows last year's 'Inside The Velvet Castle' EP, and is pretty darned blistering hot. Fast, fuzzy punk, with splintered psych-surf textures in its guitar, and an arresting vocal from Lee herself, who has said of 'Fever': "Fever is a song about having self-destructive tendencies. It's about being impulsive, self-defeating and spiteful towards the world. The undertones are sarcastic but it's ultimately about having so much anger inside of you that you want to bash your head against a wall."
Right on, sister.
Playing dates in the US throughout March, catch Mexican Slang with the UK's own Bad Breeding when both play the Sledge Hammer showcase at SXSW on March 21.
'Fever' is released on March 28 via Buzz Records.
