**Premiere** The Happy Hollows - Astrid
Ahead of their first UK tour, Little Indie is pleased to premiere the new single from the electro-tinged, alt-pop trio The Happy Hollows.
Released on May 24, 'Astrid' follows on from the Los Angeles-based outfit's 2013 album ‘Amethyst’, and was produced by Lewis Pesacov (Best Coast) and mixed in London by Gareth Jones (Grizzly Bear, Interpol, Depeche Mode). Built around a shimmering pulsed synth pattern (provided by a Roland Juno 106, for the techies reading), layered crisp propulsive drums, shiny guitar hooks, and the idiosyncratic vocal operatics of frontwoman Sarah Negahdari -sounding like a Stevie Nicks/Siouxsie Sioux hybrid, and who has been described as "one of the coolest women in rock" - 'Astrid' is instantly ear-engaging.
Lyrically, ‘Astrid’ plays on the idea of drawing consolation from concepts of destiny and fate: “The song captures the longing for a simple time when human agency and the movements of heavenly objects were believed to be one and the same,” explains Sarah.
Take a listen to 'Astrid' below.
Happy Hollows touch down in the UK next month for a series of dates in May and June, kicking off on May 29 in Sheffield.
