Track Of The Day :: Holy Holy - You Cannot Call For Love Like A Dog

Duo Holy Holy have three things outstanding about them: they have a great name; they sound more like dark Scandinavians than sunny Australian cobbers; and, lastly, this first track from their upcoming EP is a real banger. Triple whammy then for the Oz boys, Melbourne songwriter Timothy Carroll and Brisbane composer/guitarist Oscar Dawson.

‘You Cannot Call For Love Like A Dog’ unveils the band sounding sharper and darker than on last release 'History', with atmospheric swells ebbing under striking guitar riffs, penetrating vocals, and driven by a deep bass line. It is taken from their debut EP 'The Pacific' - recorded on 2-inch tape and produced by Matt Redlich - out on June 1 via Wonderlick/Sony Red. The record was launched last summer in Australia, and spawned the singles 'House Of Cards' and 'Impossible Like You'.

An extended instrumental outro has given space for guitarist Dawson to play in a way that has only been heard in a live setting, showcasing their sound development that the band has nurtured while on the road - and which we can all judge next month when the pair bring their 'holiness' over to the UK for a handful of festival dates, as below.
