32 psych/garage/punk bands, 10 DJs, an outside acoustic stage - and all for the price of a few beers. It's looking like being a monumental weekend down in East London at the Shacklewell Arms, starting at 7pm this Friday, May 22 and running through till the early hours of BankHoliday Monday.
Bad For Lazarus and Kagoule have now joined the already quite thrilling line-up that also includes The Telescopes, Loom, Demob Happy, Love Buzzard, Purple Heart Parade, Cassels and Dressmaker, amongst the assembled cast.
If some are new names to you, we caught up with a few of them to put a few of the same penetrating (not!) questions to each. Some got a little carried away....obviously starting on the Bank Holiday festivity spirit early.

BONFIRE NIGHTS
1. No.
2. Sunday 4:15pm.
3. Lots of fuzz, lots of reverb.
4. 'Bo Diddley Did Me' - it's new.
5. Our bassist James has some fluff on his chin.
6. There are heaps of good bands on the lineup...but you should definitely check out Telescopes and Desert Mountain Tribe.
CASSELS
1. No.
2. Friday, 8.45pm.
3. Two skinny young chaps, at least one of whom will most likely be topless, getting rather worked up whilst playing some heavy-ish punky-ish alternative rock music.
4. We have a song called 'Seasick' which everyone likes because it's catchy, but we've dropped it from our set. So there will be none.
5. Sweaty.
6. Impossible question, there are far too many good bands playing. But if you're going to force me into a corner then Dressmaker and Kagoule.
DRESSMAKER
1. We've played there twice before.
2. Saturday, 7pm
3. Expect to hear a lot of noise and feedback, and see very little, as you'll be blinded in equal measure by our strobe lights and fog machine.
4. We'd like to play 'Skeleton Girl' but it's so long it'll take up half of our set. Expect 'The Future', both literally and metaphorically.
5. Fluffy. Our minds are full of fluff.
6. Cassels for sure. Two brothers (who we're currently in the process of organising a tour with) who play garage rock (of sorts) but not as you know it. Two-piece bands can easily be dull and formulaic, but Cassels sound unlike anything else in London at the moment. They're loud as fuck but use silence to great effect. Highly recommended. And Terminal Gods. We've played and toured together several times, and there's a bit of friendly competition over who has the more powerful fog machine (us of course.)
KAGOULE
1. We've shaken our boings under that arch many times.
2. Saturday at 10pm.
3. The Spanish Inquisition.
4. 'Sandstorm' by Darude.
4. Wet, translucent and bald.
5. Bare Pale and Demob Happy.
LOVE BUZZARD
1. No.
2. Saturday at 8.45pm.
3. Kev: A hot fuzzy sweaty mess full of groove.
Al: Thumping drums, screeching vocals, fuzzed up guitar and a little rabbit on keys.
4. Kev: 'Cash' is our yet to be greatest hit...new single that we are releasing through 1234 straight after Flufferfest. They are also releasing our debut album 'Antifistamines' later next month!!!!
5. Kev: Definitely fluffy but without the fluff.
6. The Night Jars, Sewer Rats, and Vulgarians.
PURPLE HEART PARADE
1. Mikey: We first visited the Shack a few months back when we played the Bad Vibrations All-Dayer. Absolute love the place, it's got a great 'vibe' and the response we got on the day was absolutely mega. The London crowds really come out in force for their Purple Fix which we really appreciate. We loved the place that much we actually visited again a few weeks after to pick-up a part of our soul we'd left behind [the bar staff had kindly kept it on ice downstairs for us.]
2. Ste: We're on on the Sunday - decent slot as well - about 8.45. There was a blog who said we were one of the bands to watch out for in London this weekend.
3. Keith: PHP are a cosmic, shoegaze, psychedelic, even bluesy trip through the unknown. But by the time we've finished people do know us. We tend to leave our cosmic scent with peeps to contemplate, whilst they work out what just hit them.
Mikey: A very real, true and heartfelt sonic experience! When we combine our four elements on stage we channel something from the ether that's very much our own thing, so it has it's own sound and colours going on with it. As for what else to expect? Once the zone has been reached and the atmosphere created, it's a mystery box! We like to interact and feed off the audience, that makes us buzz.
4. Peter: All of our tracks are hits! 'The Room' is our biggest tune to date though which gets a release on a US Label in the summer. We always close the set with it, sometimes a 20-minute version which is ethereal bliss! We have another epic in Sister Libra, we played it for the first time at The Shacklewell the last time we were there.
Keith: I'd have to say it's a crowd favourite called 'Starfucker Blues'. It certainly tends to stay in people's heads. But also, get your ears ready for our latest gem, we're gonna open with it, called 'Shadow Dance'.
5. Keith: Very fluffy at times. But in your fuckin' face for the majority.
Mikey: I don't think we'd be described as fluffy, unless we're talking hair? We've got lots of that.
6. Keith: For me it would be M!r!m. They create amazing noise, similar vein to The Soft Moon. We've done a few gigs with them and they blow me away each time. And also Loom - they're mint as well.
Ste: Telescopes are always entertaining and put on a show.
Pete: Telescopes are a must! We've played with them a fair few times now, they're like a wild animal. Also MRM for me, awesome duo who I have a lot of time for.
SEWER RATS
1. No, we've actually played Shacklewell...I think it's four times now, most definitely one of our favourite venues in England.
2. Sunday at 9:30pm just before LOOM and just after Purple Heart Parade. Both incredible bands.
3. 45 minutes of hard sweaty psych rock. Driving bass lines, heavy drum beats and fuzz/wah-filled guitar.
4. I wouldn't describe it as a greatest hit, but "SKINT" is definitely the song that people get the most craziest to.
5. I don't think of us as a band could be described as at all Fluffy, but I guess thats were you make your own opinion!
6. The whole line-up is pretty darn incredible, but if I had to pick two bands that people should really check out then it's going to have to be the boys in Sunlight Service Group and the fellas in Love Buzzard. Both incredible bands that we've played with many a times before, and they're never a let-down.
TERMINAL GODS
1. Surprisingly, this is actually our first time at the Shacklewell. Weird!
2. Saturday, 6pm.
3. Walls of heavily distorted riffs and feedback, fuzz bass, machine beats, massive choruses and a hurricane of dry ice.
4. 'Electric Eyes' is one of those tunes we can’t seem to get away from, but we’ll be dusting off some other old classics for this show.
5. Half and half, we’re fluffy off stage, but certainly not on.
6. On the Friday don’t miss Sunlight Service Group and Cassels; on the Saturday make it dressmaker and Love Buzzard, and for the Sunday it’s all about Sewer Rats.
VULGARIANS
1. It is our first time at Shacklewell Arms! We haven't been going long as Vulgarians, so we're excited to play at such a great venue.
2. Saturday, at 5pm.
3. We like to think we offer an exciting, energetic live show. Emphasis on 'like to think'. Ha. Hopefully plenty of people will be there to make up their own minds. But we're certainly excited to show Dalston what we have to offer.
4. 'Naturally Nothing' will probably be the best known song we play in the set, as it's done pretty well in the time it's been online. But it's a really new set, so they're all pretty unknown, in the grand scheme of things.
5. Not fluffy. More grizzly, I'd say. But I think 'non-fluffy bands' is the general theme of the festival, ironically.
6. Picking two bands is tough! There're so many great bands playing. We've played with Love Buzzard before and they were awesome. That's how we ended up on the Flufferfest bill. We really like Loom, too. But we're excited to see Kagoule, Dressmaker and USA Nails, as well. Our best mates Cannibal Animal are playing early Saturday, too, who are amazing. We'll go with Cannibal Animal and Loom for the final two!
