Listen :: Tamu Massif - Jejune/Selene
Words: Pollyanna Sheehan
Tamu Massif is the long-time-in-the-making project of Dave Dixon, who after originally writing on his guitar, began to explore and experiment with a wider range of sounds. The result is Tamu Massif, who brings a relaxing blend of soothing layered vocals, gentle guitar melodies and story-telling lyrics to create blissful tracks.
‘Jejune/Selene’ is the latest single from Tamu Massif, released through Bristol-based label Chiverin. After being written, recorded and produced at his home in Weston-Super-Mare, the track was later mixed by Ali Chant - Youth Lagoon and PJ Harvey collaborator. Dixon enlisted the help of a friend Felix Drake to shoot the accompanying video, which features picturesque landscapes, warm sunsets and hazy skylines. Together with the video, the track ‘Jejune/Selene’ creates a sense of dreamy fascination through the layering of various samples and effects, and is a perfect soundtrack for a lazy summer afternoon.
Tamu Massif is performing on the Bristol date of the Dot to Dot festival this weekend (May 23), and will be celebrating the launch of his upcoming EP with two shows - one at The Louisiana, Bristol on June 19 and the second at The Waiting Room, London on June 22.
