Track Of The Day :: Level & Tyson - Tied Up

This really is a tune. One of those fortuitous moments when Soundcloud runs on to the next track before you press Stop, and you get, not a track from last year but somewhere as new, and fresh, and gloriously riveting as this.

Released on May 7, 'Tied Up' is from the upcoming album 'Gruesome Twosome by Norwegian 'slacker pop' outfit Level & Tyson. Fronted by the compellingly Richard Noir, the quintet formed in 2012, and this will be their second album after their debut record 'Even Faster Still' released the same year. Judging by their touring schedule, they appear to be highly popular in Portugal in particular, and the summery dance vibe of 'Tied Up' should surely have seen them on some UK festival stages too...

The track is an impossibly catchy song that straddles several genres -"Punk, poetry, pop and noise" is how they describe their output - with psych-like swoony synths juxtaposed against Noir's compelling and very listenable fuzzy growl of a vocal, scuzzy guitars and dreamy backing vocals. It's one to play more than once, quite definitely.

If you're in Oslo, get down to Samfunnet on May 29 to catch Level & Tyson play a hometown show.
