Track Of The Day :: Storms - Girl
Words: Alison Mack
Pleased to see our One To Watch from last October, London four-piece Storms, doing so well with their shoegaze/grunge style.
Recently signed to Manchester label MUK, the band have just unveiled their debut single ‘Girl’, which is available to download now.
Produced by Steve Osborne (Placebo, U2, Suede), the track typifies the band's 90s influences that fuse hypnotic pop sensibilities with a pounding anthemic chorus, but with a present-day grunge coating, laced together with George Runciman's distinctive vocal.
The track, written by guitarist Felix Howes, and as its title suggests, is about a girl - and a rather special one, to him, at least.
“'Girl' is about this girl I've loved and hated her from the moment we met because she makes me feel so euphoric one moment but the next unbearably miserable," he reveals. "The song tries to show how all those blurred lines between love, obsession, hate, resentment, self-loathing etc. can combine to make a person feel and behave completely unlike their normal self.”
The band have a busy summer of shows coming up, including their four night residency from May through to August at the Blow Up Club at St Moritz in Soho.
