Watch :: Trailer For Amy Winehouse Documentary 'Amy'
The first trailer clip to the feature-length Amy Winehouse documentary, Amy, has been released. The film, first announced in 2013, is directed by Asif Kapadia, and uses unseen archive footage and previously unheard tracks.
Although the Winehouse family claims the film is "both misleading and contains some basic untruths", it is set to open on July 4 in the UK. Winehouse, who rose to international fame with her second album, 'Back to Black', died on July 23 2011 at the age of 27 as a result of alcohol poisoning.
The minute-long clip features footage of Amy, and recollections from Nick Schmanksy, a member of her management team. David Joseph, UK CEO of Winehouse's label Universal Music said: "About two years ago we decided to make a movie about her - her career and her life. It's a very complicated and tender movie. It tackles lots of things about family and media, fame, addiction, but most importantly, it captures the very heart of what she was about, which is an amazing person and a true musical genius."
