Four Tet Streams New Two Track Album - Listen
Words: Ellie Ward
After announcing via Twitter on May 6 that his new album would be called 'Morning/Evening', and "will be out by early July," Four Tet has now today - June 21 - dropped the whole thing on Bandcamp.
It really is quite a beautiful record too. There are just two tracks on the whole record - 'Morning Side' (at a healthy 20:24 minutes, and 'Evening Side' at 19:53 minutes - which were created on a laptop computer using the Ableton Live software to control and mix VST synthesizers and manipulations of found audio recordings, the description informs. While the first 'Morning' side sails through on Japanese influenced vocal samples and space-like electronics, 'Evening' opens on 'underwater' sounds before expanding into an ambiently mind-expanding soundscape.
The physical version of the album is out on July 10. You can meanwhile stream and buy via Bandcamp.
It is Four Tet's - Kieran Hebden - follow-up to 'Beautiful Rewind' of 2013, after his surprise 11-track album under his Percussions moniker came out at the beginning of 2015.
