Introducing :: Amethysts
Words: Linn Branson
Amethysts, although a new band, they are one with a certain pedigree behind them. They may be keeping a certain mystique, but the Suffolk-based outfit, fronted by the charming Clarice Parrott, is in fact a side project of Frett's Simon Lucas-Hughes; having provided vocals to Frett tracks such as 'Black and White'.
Whether their reputation has preceded them, of simply on the basis of having produced a darned good debut track in 'Alone', they have already had Radio 1 airplay via Huw Stephens last week, as well as BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Suffolk Introducing and BBC Essex Introducing.
On the basis of ‘Alone’, it seems we are going be hearing much more of the sparkling Amethysts. Delving into dark pop electronica with layered vocal harmonies floating over silky smooth synths, driving drums and guitar lines that add a dreamwave dimension, it really is a gem.
