Track Of The Day :: Secret From Richard - Collide
Words: Linn Branson
They've supported the likes of Coasts and As Elephants Are, performed at this year's Latitude Festival - and also come from Alan Partridge country! - but if Secret From Richard are still a largely kept secret now, they may not be so for much longer.
The unsigned four-piece alt-indie band from Norwich, blend intricate riffs and pop vocal hooks on this, their debut single, 'Collide'.
Digitally released last month with B-side 'Faith', both tracks were produced by Rupert Lyddon (The 1975, Wolf Alice) and mastered by Brian Lucey (Arctic Monkeys, The Black Keys), the first thing you notice about 'Collide' are Jason Sturman's gripping vocals that really propel the upbeat track along; even if you didn't like the song particularly - which you will; with its infectious, jangly melody it's hard not to - this is the kind of voice one is drawn to. We wait to hear what further musical 'secrets' are to come from Secret From Richard.
Secret From Richard are: Jason Sturman, vocals/guitar; Shaun Banham, guitar; Jesse Baker, drums; Louis Baker, bass.
