New Exeter grungers Selfish Son have just released their five-track self-titled debut EP. Influenced by bands such as Pixies and Dinosaur Jr, the now three-piece, but what was then a duo, made their debut back in early summer with double A-side single 'Blood In My Mouth'/'Waking Ned'.
Originally started as a solo project of Samuel Bedford back in 2012, who made several bedroom EPs and demos that were released via Bandcamp, as Sam explains, the present line-up he sees as a fresh start:
"I always wanted to expand the project into a band. Whilst I was studying in Falmouth, Selfish Son has several different line-ups. However, I finally settled upon Lande Yo (bass) and Ben Cottam (drums) when I moved back to Exeter in June. This EP is seen as a new beginning for us as a band and we are treating it as our debut."
With the addition of Lande Yo, Selfish Son also appear to have adopted a heavier - and welcome - grunge side at the same time. Take a listen to lead track - and our Little Indie favourite - 'Shade' below, as well as the rest of the record via the link.
