New Sounds #10 19/10/15
SECRET SUBURBS - LAST SEPTEMBER
Teen (two 18-year-olds, two 16-year-olds, all still at school or university) indie pop foursome from Sydney. This melodic, engaging new track, which came out October 16, is the follow-up to debut 'In The End'. Formed early 2014 (previously known as Tsarbucks - really!), still raw around the edges, but potential to be a grower. Star rating: ****/5
GET INUIT - ELECTRIFY
New track from the Sittingbourne, Kent outfit's second EP ‘Luge Lessons’, released last Friday (October 16). A three-minute blast of hooky indie rock, overlaid with grungy tones. On tour with Broken Hands starting October 28 at Soup Kitchen, Manchester. Star rating: ***.5/5
ESPER SCOUT - IN FOREIGN
Leeds alt-rock, all-girl four-piece have just released this latest single (b/w Delta 5 cover, 'Anticipation') prior to live dates with The Cribs, including London Roundhouse on October 28. Melodic structure, catchy riffs, go girls! Star rating: ***.5/5
NORTHERN NATIONAL - LOVE IS FIRE
Dallas, Texas alt-pop trio (all called Michael, would you believe: Michael Rossi - vocals/guitar, Michael Kanne - keys, Michael Wilson - guitar) with their Maroon 5-like new single, out on November 13. Well crafted, polished pop. Star rating: ***/5
SEA LEGS - WHY DON'T WE GO OUT TONIGHT
Featured on Little Indie back in June with 'Witches Have Friends', the Oz indie quartet from Bateau Bay in New South Wales now share a first taste of their second EP 'Daddy's Girl', released October 23. The follow-up to their 2013 debut ‘We Do What We Do When We Do What We Do' sounding a winner on rocky riffs and sneaky synths. Star rating: ****.5/5
