Track Of The Day :: LANY - Where The Hell Are My Friends
Words: Ellie Ward
You'd think, what with having such infectious tunes at their disposal, that Los Angeles-based trio LANY's address book would be overflowing with acquaintances. But on this debut single, ‘Where The Hell Are My Friends’, they seem to be in short order.
Released last Friday through Polydor, the track is an electro alt-pop funk buzz that indicates Paul Klein, Les Priest and Jake Goss’s euphoric songwriting is going to brighten up the summer.
Recording and producing everything themselves in their apartment - “We’ll record things using a $2 app if that’s what to hand. That’s how we roll,” says Klein - their breezy synths meets indie pop with an 80s West Coast edge, has already seen their headline show tomorrow at London's Barfly sell out (the band are currently supporting Ellie Goulding on her UK tour). Looks like they'll have no trouble finding a few friends there.
