New Sounds #79 July 31 2016
BIG EYES - BEHIND YOUR EYES
New from the Brooklyn outfit comes the second single from their upcoming LP, 'Stake My Claim', out August 19 via Don Giovanni Records. Singer Kait Eldridge says of the power-punk track with pop lashings: “'Behind Your Eyes' is about seeing through the facade of someone who acts as if 'everything is cool' when it’s clear that they’re hurting. It’s about feeling a major connection with someone, but knowing that it would never be a good fit. It’s about finding the balance between emotion and logic." Star rating: ★★★☆☆
WILD MEADOWS - REBEL
Melbourne shoegazers follow last year's self-titled debut EP with this just under five minute latest cut of atmospheric psych reverb crossed with shoegaze vibes and Kat Karamitros' lo-fi vocals gilding the top. Star rating: ★★★☆☆
