Words: Ellie Ward
Little Indie first heard 24-year-old Mark Elliott back in March when he came our way with the smooth and lovely 'Dead End Love Affair'. Now the Leicester-based artist returns with more nu-soul electro-pop in 'China Doll'.
Lightly inflected jazz elements are melded into the minimalist R&B soundscape, anchored by Elliott's effortless soothing balm of a voice.
“'China Doll' is about everything that goes unsaid at the very beginning of a relationship, and all the terrifying subtleties,” explains Elliott, of the follow-up to 'Drink To Thunk', also from his pending debut EP. “It’s kind of a slow-jam but with more insecurities - and less heavy breathing.”
