Track Of The Day :: Lions Of Dissent - X Y Z
Words: Linn Branson
Little Indie featured Wolverhampton collective Lions Of Dissent back in July with their gorgeous 'Heaven Sent', they were adament about not being considered as a band: not to be, to quote, "strangled by the claustrophobic constraints that being in a band bring... caught up in the perpetual cycles of rehearsing for gigs, then preparing to record a demo and so on. We wanted the freedom to do what we want, when we want."
We're not sure how that is all working out, but they have once again graced Little Indie's ears with another exceedingly moreish tune.
Produced, arranged and mixed by the outfit's drums 'n' synths man, Simon Weaver, 'X Y Z', it is another in their ever-growing repertoire of self-produced songs and videos. It's fully of catchy beats, big hands-in-the-air melodics, spacey atmospherics, a great dance groove, and partnered with hippy, trippy visuals.
Lions Of Dissent have the potential to become a big name. It may not, however, be what they actually want, given their ethos, and way of going about things. But turning out stuff as good as this really deserves to be heard by a wider audience.
