Track Of The Day :: Ceiling Demons - March Forward
Words: Ellie Ward
We first talked about North Yorkshire collective Ceiling Demons two years ago when they snuck through our 'mystery' barrier with 'Even If'.
For their latest George Ruston produced alt-hip hop release, 'March Forward', which is available digitally on April 28 - part of a fresh body of work to be released later in the year via Durham-based DIY label Win Big Records - they bring in some brass along with guitar from Chris Shaw and live drums by Sam Reed to augment twin brother duo Psy Ceiling and Dan Demon lyrically as they go through an emotive journey of loss and acceptance. "Recognition of our own mortality and inner struggles is interspersed with an uplifting message which, ultimately, offers a sense of hope."
The horns which open the track are beguiling before the spoken word dialogue comes in along with an interesting arrangement that marks 'March Forward' out from the crowd.
Ceiling Demons play Stockton Calling today (April 15) at the Edge Bar. Other confirmed dates are:
June 16 - 360 Club at The Library, Leeds
July 1 - TBA, Newcastle-upon-Tyne
