Liam Gallagher returns to the stage for Manchester show

Words: Izzy B

There might not have been an appearance by brother Noel, but Liam Gallagher playing his debut solo show at Manchester's O2 Ritz this evening (May 30), pulled out all the stops for this hometown show.

Joined by former Oasis guitarist Bonehead, Gallagher ran through a set of old band favourites along with six new songs that will no doubt appear on his forthcoming solo debut album, rumoured to be titled 'As You Were'.

As the lights went down, with a long intro of Oasis‘ ‘Fuckin’ In The Bushes' playing, it was time to count the phones that came out. Dressed in his trademark style, Gallagher arrived on stage accompanied by a four-piece band to start off with ‘Rock N Roll Star’, followed by 'Morning Glory'.

Proceeds from the show will go to the victims and families of the Manchester Arena attack last week. A reminder of the 22 lives lost on that night shown in the same number of candles that formed part of the stage set-up.

Former bandmate Bonehead joined Gallagher later to perform ‘Be Here Now’, with an encore conclusion to the night of ‘Live Forever’.

Setlist:

Rock 'n' Roll Star

Greedy Soul (New song)

Slide Away
It Doesn't Have To Be That Way (New song)
You'd Better Run, You'd Better Hide (New song)
