[Video] Midday Swim - Hold On Tight
Words: Sam Geary
'Hold On Tight' - it's Toronto indies Midday Swim with their video for the easy-going track which is off their upcoming EP 'Climbing Out Of Caves' (due later this year), the follow-up to their self-titled debut of 2015.
The mellow opening gradually gives way to a more uplifting tempo on this EP lead track. Video director Pedja Milosavlijevic explains its concept:
"The surrealist-fantasy feel to the idea came from our mutual admiration of films like "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty", "Pulp Fiction" and "The Grand Budapest Hotel", as well as the general work of directors such as David Lynch, Wes Anderson, Emir Kusturica and some classic Spielberg.
"The final treatment really came together once we went out to the location that some of the band's rock climbing friends suggested - a spot in Ontario full of cliffs and caves, which was perfect for our concept. We really had a great time shooting this video - from the funny looks we got from park visitors as we passed them carrying a leaf blower, green screen and a bike in the middle of winter - to Dave
[vocalist David Krygier-Baum] being running around the cliff and getting busted up on those rocks like he was actually being chased by a bear."
