New tracks coming up from Down Under
Little Indie casts its ears and eyes over more of the latest sounds to emerge recently from Down Under.
THE GAMETES - STUCK IN A TURNSTILE
Formed earlier this year, Brisbane's The Gametes make an impressive start with this taught alternating instrumentation that works around Tom Harden’s vocals.
HELLO SATELLITES - BLINDNESS
Seven years after Hello Satellites released their debut album ‘Two Bright Lakes’, the Melbourne pair - songwriter Eva Popov and Georgia Harvey (Yffer, Cold Hands Warm Heart), - prepare a third album, ‘Bright Face’, out June 23, from which ‘Blindness’ - a gentle and soporific acoustic soundscape - comes.
DANGERPENNY - WASH
Brisbane garage rock four-piece bring melodic reverb and power riffs into this six-and-a-half minute number.
HANDS LIKE HOUSES - DRIFT
Hot and heavy new release from the veteran Canberra rockers, the thunderous 'Drift' which is "about a momentary lapse in momentum, where everything is still long enough to question where you're going, where you've been and how they are somehow supposed to connect in the middle," frontman Trenton Woodley says.
PREGNANCY - HARD AS NAILS
Slow-burning electro-synthpop from Melbourne on the new single released June 18, and from the upcoming debut album, 'Urgency', out on July 14 in Australia through Lost & Lonesome, and internationally on Emotional Response from Ashley Bundang and Zachary Denton.
BIG ORANGE - FAMOUS
Perth indie-pop quintet release their new single, from their upcoming EP, due out soon. "'Famous' is a wink and a nod to the wise and the weary; an anthem for the nihilists and the navel gazers; an ironic hymn for a culture so desperate for irony...'Famous' is about people wanting to be famous for the sake of it, and willing to do whatever it takes to make that happen," says vocalist Daniel Davis, of the chunky guitared, engagingly vocalled number.
