Listen :: Dama Scout share new cut - Toothache
Words: Sam Geary
With their self-titled debut EP out this Friday (November 10, via Hand In Hive), Glasgow-formed, now London-based Dama Scout share another cut from the record.
Following ‘Sugar’ and ‘Suzi Wong’, they now offer ‘Toothache’, the third in their trilogy blending alt-pop, sweet melodies, interwoven instrumental layers, glimmering guitar hooks and tremulous basslines.
Speaking about the track, Dama Scout said: "We wrote 'Toothache' in a toilet in North London and it has become one of our favourite songs to play. Lyrically the song is about hiding things from the people you care about the most. A running theme for us, musically and lyrically, is playing with the number ‘3’ and this song is a good example of this. There are obvious examples in the song’s code and also some hidden ones too."
