[Updated] BBC Sound of 2018 longlist revealed

Pale Waves, Norwegian singer Sigrid, rising R&B star Khalid, ALMA, 15-year-old US pop singer Billie Eilish, and Lewis Capaldi are among the 16 artists revealed on the BBC Sound of 2018 longlist.
The full list, chosen by a panel of music experts and former nominees including Stormzy, is:

The Top 5 will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 from Monday January 8 2018, with the overall winner being named on Friday January 12 during Clara Amfo’s mid morning show on Radio 1.

Describing the list, BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac said: “Some acts will be brand new to UK audiences and many have already started to make an impact. I can’t wait to be a part of their journey and see what the year ahead has in store for them all.”

The BBC Sound of 2018 winner is Sigrid. Norwegian singer-songwriter Sigrid Solbakk Raabe has been tipped as the new Lorde. Signed to Island Records, she released her single 'Don't Kill My Vibe' early last year and has been streamed on Spotify over 13 million times to date.
Revealed in second place, the BBC Sound of 2018 runner-up is 19-year-old Alex O’Connor, aka Rex Orange County, from Haslemere, Surrey, whose style encompasses contemporary jazz, r&b and electronic.
Taking third place, Manchester sensual soul artist, IAMDDB.
In fourth place, 19-year-old US R&B sensation Khalid.
Announced earlier today (January 8), Manchester's goth-pop outfit Pale Waves have taken fifth place on the Sound of 2018 list.
