New tracks coming up from Down Under
Little Indie casts its ears and eyes over more of the latest sounds to emerge recently from Down Under.
HATCHIE - SURE
Brisbane's Harriette Pilbeam follows her solo debut single ‘Try’ from earlier in the year with this new shoegaze-esque track. The former Go Violets and Babaganouj member's debut EP 'Sugar & Spice' is out next year, before a trip to the US for SXSW in March.
TWELVE BALLET - AREN'T WE TOO OLD
Released November 24, the new delicately ethereal electronic synthpop track of velvet vocals and emotive lyrics from Queensland's brother-sister duo, Ben and Samantha Hope.
JEFFE - WHOEVER YOU LOVE I'M COOL
Sydney-based dream-electronica newcomer makes an impressive debut with this captivating track of floaty vocals, layered strings and horns. "It’s about acceptance of a situation you have no control over," she says of the song.
DEAR SEATTLE - THE MEADOWS
From the debut EP of the Sydney indie punks, released January 18 2018 on vinyl via James (Violent Soho) Tidswell's new record label Domestic La La. The four-piece describe their sound as having "honest, self-deprecating lyrics, chanty bits, chunky grunge riffs and indie rock grooves".
BRAVES - ON MY WAY
Perth-based "scrappy guitar pop" four-piece offer a fast-and-loose, indie-rock second single, released last week, and taken from their upcoming EP out early next year.
ESSIE HOLT - UNDERWATER
Released November 17, the Joel Quartermain-produced debut single by Melbourne-based artist Jess Holt is already looking like it promises big things for her in 2018. Floaty, layered vocals drive the song she wrote "super late one night after a pretty heavy conversation. I’d had to swallow a lot of words in that moment, so when I sat down at the piano the song came relatively fast. It’s about the blurred senses you experience when something really shakes you.”
